* Best Friend: ellen kroll. saved me from unpopularity in middle school.
* Crush: kindergarten: michael lombardo. cute mop-headed blonde.
there's actually a story to this-i broke my black crayon and no one at my table would let me borrow one to color some smoke from chimney, and michael came over from another table and said he had two and i could have his. love at first sight, man. it was deep. i was five.
* Movie: dil- an indian movie "Love" great movie. first american film, probably peter pan (loved it) or the little mermaid (hated it, stupid co-dependent fish chick meets a confused guy in a waiter's coat alleging a claim to some farcical island kingdom)
* Lie: 3rd grade, to my teacher, "No Sr. Margaret, I don't think Stephen threw the pencil..."
* Music: definitely lullabies from my mom. she even made a little "gutka song" for me. my mom is good at composing and such. yes, there is also a "bani song"

* Car Ride: drove my sister and myself to get a haircut at 2.

see there was this bottle of southern comfort, and then it wasn't there. wonder where it went...hmmm i walking around with some sober people, who didn't fully appreciate what happened next. saw a campus safety car with the door open, was like "i wonder if the rest of the gin is hiding in there." found some keys instead. yeah i'm an idiot. i jumped in the driver's seat, put the lights on and put it reverse. then i saw some of albion's finest running back to the car. i parked the car, got out and squinted at them and scurried away towards keith who was having an aneurysm at the time from shock. he grabbed my arm, and was like "Walk, just walk." The officer came up to us and shined a light at me and started looking at us, I guess i must have known the guy, or at least Drunk Roz pretended to, and i started walking away and mumbling like "Shhhhh....(put my finger up to lips), I think someone is trying to STEEEEEEAAAAL UUUUUR car....nuhhhh"
yeah, keith's friend ran away and i think i didn't get to drink for a couple weeks. :-)

i'm trying not to enjoy myself, but it might be inevitable....btw, i very much want to come to u of i for labor day but if mike comes to lindsay's going away party, he wants to stay for the weekend and i'm stuck up there.

wow. i so read that about jul 18th.

ok, so i have decided that my life is being taken over by many things, and i need to get centered. baby steps. i'm updating my livejournal. insignificant to many, yes, i know, but hey it's a start.

omg where to begin. christ. first things are first, research is over for the summer. sort of. got to design some primers, but that's just gonna be fun. gonna play with restriction enzymes tomorrow. conned my profesor into taking me on as a directed study student, so now i get credit to do what i did last semester for nothing. aren't i clever and all?

keith and i broke up. yes, we did. yes, it's terrible and it's really over. yes, we're still friends. of course, he's upset and it's been tough for us both. call me on my cell (630/544.1595) if you help or counseling in this time of crisis. i realize that most of the people i know are going to be upset by the news, but i will be here for you all, as much as i can be. i'm as fine as can be expected. yes, we dated about two years, and yes it's all really very sad and tragic. it's no one's fault, these things happen sometimes though, and when they do it is very sad.

bani is back from cape cod; she had a fabulous time with her friend sarah. more importantly she brought me back lots of east coast fudge and salt water taffy to ruin my pseudo-diet. basically, "if it would make me happy, i don't eat it, and if i can't help myself i do, but then i feel very bad." don't laugh driscoll, it is working, i've lost 3 pounds this week.

i miss everyone from imsa, even though i'm home. anita is in michigan, ying is in hanover, ning is in st. louis, mike is stuck in champbana because his car is sick, driscoll and feifei are peoria, paul is at u of i too, amy is in bloomigton being swallowed by the evil that is the wesleyan library (should have burned it to the ground when i had the chance to steal her back) and it just blows that I would have to get in the car and drive a couple hours to find a friend right now. hmph, i'm so grumpy; i think i'm going to drag mike out tomorrow/today to get coffee, even though he doesn't really dig the whole coffee thing.

it gets better. well worse actually. one of my best friends at college, lindsay, is off to london next semester, and i will miss her terribly. i have patricia and other fun people to console but still, this is ridiculous.

i need new friends right? but damnit i have no time to make them. I have mcat prep, volunteering at a hospice, being a TA for chem lab, a directed study on HIV research, physics, physiology with the shark lab nazi, and physical chemistry. it's enough to make me physically sick. i will have NO time for friends, boys, fun, nothing really. MAybe if i'm lucky i can squeeze in breathing--every now and then, you know, for a change of pace. i got to cut down on some of this crap. breathe Roz.

then again, i'm looking forward to a new year, new faces, new experiences, blah.

OK, so most of the people that read this probably know i did a mentorship in the biochem department @ a DO med school back during IMSA. Two weeks ago (no, I didn't get around to telling many people or posting) I got an email saying that my mentor submitted our paper for publication. It went out to a UK oncology journal, was accepted, and it is currently going through final review. Best part: not only am I only of the primary authors, I am the SECOND author on the submission.I'm so excited. I do feel kinda bad that some of the other researchers are listed afterwards, but then again almost all of the data to be published is my work. Did I mention I am excited? ;-)
